Sentimental Journey is proud to announce that celebrated aviation
photographer, Capt. Tom Pawlesh, will be exhibiting his art and demonstrating his skills at the 2025 Fly-In at the Lock Haven airport. Pawlesh is best-known for his exotic nocturnal photography of airplanes. He uses specialized lighting to dramatically drape each aircraft in a warm and inviting glow. Sometimes he adds unique props, such as antique cars, to amplify the photograph’s impact. In most instances he poses the airplane with the engine running, creating a silvery disk in front of each engine. The effects can be stunning.

In an exciting innovation, the 39th annual Sentimental Journey Fly-In at the Lock Haven airport will open its gates on June 21st, for a combined celebration of both Lock Haven and aviation. The event will be called “Community Day” and will run from 9am to 2pm on that Saturday. Community Day will feature all the usual events of the week-long fly-in, including educational forums, a “Kidz Zone” with bounce houses, vendors, and food trucks. But for 2025, Community Day adds three exciting new features: a car show, a short-take-off-and-landing (“STOL”) competition, and free airplane rides for kids. ADMISSION ON SATURDAY IS FREE FOR EVERYBODY. The attached document explains these new plans.

This past week Ron Dremel, President of the Piper Aviation Museum, and Cal Arter, Director of the Sentimental Journey Fly-in, were working at one of the world's premier aviation events with a mission to spotlight Clinton County and its rich aviation heritage.

The event was the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo which draws 250,000 aviation enthusiasts from across the globe to the town of Lakeland, in southern Florida. Thanks to a grant from the Clinton County Visitors Bureau, Dremel and Arter used this international stage to promote the Sentimental Journey Fly-in, the Piper Aviation Museum, the Piper Airport, and Clinton County as a whole. Dremel and Arter’s presence helped raise awareness about Lock Haven’s aviation history and promote tourism. By show 's end, they had more than 1,060 people stop by their table.

"It was hot down there, maybe 90 degrees," Arter said, "But we had people standing two and three deep at our table, eager to talk about visiting Lock Haven!"
